No coating. Our paper is made of unbleached long pulp fibers which are pressed very hard at the end of the paper making process to leave a hard & shiny finish. The long fibers make the paper more flexible and the smooth finish makes it more moisture resistant than basic paper like newsprint or copy paper.
Yes, and in fact many users report that they don’t feel the heat which is a plus. Might take a few pickups to get use the different texture of the bag.
If the poop has a shape then you can scoop it with a PoopShark bag. Otherwise, best to use a bag destined for the trash (used bread bag, used grocery bag, etc) or a plant-based bag.
It can tear if you scrape the ground with it. You may need to be a bit more gentle than what you're use to with plastic bags.
No. What makes it easier for the environment also makes it not so good in water. But the material does not need to be completely waterproof to be poop-proof. Please do not use in wet conditions—heavy rain, deep snow, upset tummies. We recommend carrying a bag destined for the trash (empty bread bag, grocery bag, etc) in case of emergency.
We know most people are use to doing that but probably not. There is just enough paper to twist or roll to close. We’ve made the size as efficient as possible—scoops most sizes but does not waste paper.

Yes, though care should be taken because there can be pathogens that are harmful to humans. The compost should not be used on food crops but are fine for shrubs & trees. There are companies that make composters/digesters specifically for dog waste and the USDA has instructions for kennels.
